After going out today to buy some more fire starters (and charcoal), and then seeing the stupid prices, I said screw that and decided I was just going to make my own. I've seen "recipes" for making your own so thought I would give it a shot. I knew I had some egg cartons kicking around already, but decided to try wood pellets instead of the sawdust the instructions asked for. Tried a couple test runs and they burn great and for a long time...
So, just started with a tin can to melt some canning wax in...

Threw some wood pellets into the egg carton depressions... I don't even have a pellet cooker...I just have a bag of them as I sometimes sprinkle the pellets over the top of my charcoal when I smoke on my Summit S6.

Pour the melted wax evenly all over the pellets so when it hardens it locks the pellets in place...

Cut them up. Burns great!
