Just scored 5 bags of 20lb Jealous Devil lump for $10 a bag ($50 total)

Walmart had a sale on all charcoal. Got jealous devil lump for $10 a bag. Normally $24. I hear it’s good stuff. Anyone have experience with it?

They also got 2x20lb of cowboy briquettes for $7. Thinking about going back tomorrow LOL

Jealous Devil is one of my favorite lump charcoals to use. Easy to light, burns for a long time, low ash, and consistent behavior from bag to bag.

I tend to rotate through different kinds of lump because I apparently enjoy trying out new things instead of dialing in a workflow with one or two kinds of lump, but Jealous Devil lump is one of the several varieties I go back to when I need something I know I can count on.

JD lump is good. Takes a little more time to get it lit but it burns long and hot.

Works really well on direct sears and direct to indirect cooks. I wouldn’t use it on low and slow as there are less expensive options available. JD is my primary fuel source for all grilling. And it plays well with smoking woods as it’s profile is slightly sweet and a neutral wood smoke flavor.
