Is this Spirit 210 worth $45 - Learning when to walk away

This older Spirit 210 is available 45 minutes from me, plus $13 in bridge tolls and $7 in gas. They asked for $45 and we negotiated to $25. With the bottom in such a rough shape, is it worth the 45 bucks? The rust is not see-through rust but from the pictures, it looks like this guy was abandoned for a while.

For the record, the person who advertised this on FBM indicated that it was in "great condition" and that all it needs is grates. Notice the spiderwebs in the first picture.

Now that I have typed this, I realize this is not worth the hassle or the trip.

looks salvageable, but is going to need some hard to find parts to get it back to condition you can flip. Can't tell if the bottom is blown out. If it is then 100% no go.

Propane tank is worth $20 in my area, but how often do you get there and find that they decided to keep it... Almost always lol

That particular model isn't all that desirable, the beginning of the end IMO. I'd pass unless you need a bunch of decent spare parts for some other restores.

Yeah, if it was free I don't think I would drive 45 minutes to get it, especially for a two burner grill.

I like that model of grill. My wife has the 3 burner version. I have fixed up few and found them to be well built. Last of the east west burner grills like the old Genesis and Spirits

That said you would have to have a spare one already and the grill would have to be free

I agree with the consensus above. You can find a good Weber Genesis or Spirit grill with little to no rust for the same price or cheaper.

I should have read the first line better. This older Spirit 210 is available 45 minutes from me, plus $13 in bridge tolls and $7 in gas. Not worth the effort. If I found it at the curb I would try and save it from the dump.

Yep, almost any Weber grill for free is worth grabbing. Any spare parts are a plus. Sometimes, just a knob, drip pan, thermometer or LP hose is worth the time and effort.
