Is this Normal on new WSM?

My 22.5 arrived the other day and I assembled it right away (of course) when I put the center section in place ( onto the botton firebase) it was pretty tight, is this normal?

I wouldn't say mine it tight. It seals well when assembled but I don't have to stand on it or anything to get it to fit.

Check and make sure your middle section is in round. If it got squished at all it could be slightly oval shaped. It should slide right on there like a lid, not need any force to press down.

Worked it in a bit yeserday and it seems ok now. Putting seal kit in tonight, first smoke sat PM into Sunday.
