Hi all,

I've been using Kingsford since I've been smoking (approx. 1 year), and have been pleased with the ease of use, consistent burn, etc, but I am tempted to pick up some Nature's Hardwood charcoal briquettes. Is Nature's Hardwood charcoal briquettes lump charcoal?

Thanks in advance!

If it's briquettes, then it isn't lump. But it may well be made with hardwood charcoal and a bare minimum of binders to allow it to be formed into briquettes, vs. some brands (that start with a K) which contain coal dust, and various chemicals included for various reasons. Lump, as far as I know, only refers to pieces of wood that have been converted to charcoal, period. No additives, no change in shape or form.

But just because it isn't lump, doesn't mean it isn't a good product to cook with. Try a bag and see if you like it.

I'm going to give it a try. I've been using Kingsford since day one but have always wondered how lump would do. Thanks for the reply.
