Is it worth trading out of my one touch platinum?

Most people are familar with the weber performers but I have two of the weber one touch platinum grills with the green kettle and plastic grey table. It looks like the performer but it didn't carry that name. Mine originally came from Home Depot in 2000 or 2001. I remember when my wife brought it home, I thought wow, can a charcoal grill really cost $229? I wanted to return it but it was a gift so I didn't. It didn't take long before I realized it was the best $229 we spent, I have loved the grill and cook on it weekly. It remains in great shape.

Anyway, giving some consideration to updating and upgrading but wonder if I am really getting "more" for all the money I will need to spend. I've been looking on Craigslist and regularly see performers show up, mostly the 2010 and newer generation but even a couple of newer ones with the black metal table top. The similarity of my grill vs the performers makes me wonder how much of an improvement or update I will be getting but thought I would seek your input. I'm guessing mine will sell for 75-100, right?

Not sure about the Orlando market, but it'd be tough to get $100 for that style One Touch Platinum in the Atlanta market (unless it was in exceptional condition AND any other besides black). That said I think it's worth the upgrade to a Performer, if you could find one used at a good price ($150 max for excellent condition; less based on flaws). I think the 4 casters (vs 2), gas assist start and charcoal bin are WELL worth the trade up.

I almost deleted the100$ and left it at 75 bc I figured times too high. You are right about the used prices on the performers, the ones I have seen are between 150-175

What are the main differences between the 2010+ generation performer and the 2015+ besides the metal table? Am I better to focus on the 2015 and newer or not enough difference to matter? Shopping used so price and condition will likely dictate but curious as to your thoughts

I upgraded from a Platinum like yours to a performer, probably 7 or 8 years ago now. I liked that Platinum a lot, but I LOVE my Performer.

You won't cook any better or worse on the Performer, but it stands taller and has the gas assist. I'm not a tall guy, at just under 5'10", but that extra height makes a big difference. The propane start is a huge step up as well.

IIRC, I sold the Platinum for $60.

If you want to upgrade, do it. I upgraded my OTP with a custom cypress table and added length and, an 18.5 to the set up. Could, not be much happier. Gas assist ignition might be nice but, it was more fun to redo what I had.
Full disclosure, the material and much of the build was done with the help of a long standing friend who is a cabinetmaker. Without his help I would still be in the "what should I do" stage. I also raised the working height by using some (free) larger diameter wheels. It has been a fun project, the last stage has been the installation of a hinge on the 18.5from Jason at Unknown BBQ.
I had a mishap with my chimney and the handle melted so, I will be replacing that with either oak or cypress, maybe cherry. It's always fun to hot rod something!
