Is it ever TOO HOT TO BBQ?

My lid read 150 today, just sitting in the sun waiting on the coals to get ready.

Smoked a 6.5 pound bone-in turkey breast. Took only 2 hours to hit 170.

Cool and refreshing!

Yes and no.

I experience some of the hottest summers anywhere in the world here in Phoenix... high temps frequently over 110F and overnight lows around 90F. I have used my WSM in those temps and it works fine. The vents are only open enough to let a trace of oxygen in, so you don't use much fuel.

While the WSM works fine, it can be hot enough that I don't want to spend much time out hanging around the smoker like I might in other seasons. So... it gets hot enough I don't necessarily want to bbq, but it can't get hot enough that I can't.

BUT, Ken, let's not forget: yours is a DRY 110 F!

BTW, I really enjoyed smoking some BB ribs on my OTG in 77 F weather yesterday.....
