Internal Thermometers-Need Recommendation

Can someone recommend an internal thermometer that is specifically used for a WSM? The Propler (sp?)Thermometer states under its FAQS that its thermometer is NOT designed for use in a smoker. Need guidance as I am a new owner. Thanks

Additional Information: Q. Can I use my probe thermometer in a smoker or barbeque?

A. We recommend using your thermometer only as an instant read under these conditions. When using the continuous read feature please note:

1. Be careful not to sever or damage the lead or probe with the cooker lid.

I have two Weber kettles (22.5" OTG and a 18" OTS). I do my "smoking" on my larger Kettle. I use the Maverick 732. I am careful when putting the lid on and off.

I use a Thermapen as an "instant read" when needed.

Thermometers read temperature, period. It doesn't matter if the cooker is a smoker, grill, oven or hairdryer.
If I understand the question, you want an accurate Internal Temperature thermometer.
Many here use a Maverick for the IT read and remote capabilities.
For simple quick read therms, the Thermapen is great. A more budget friendly choice is a Polder digital instant read ($30).
As you will read here, internal temp doesn't mean done.
I use my IT therm for guidance towards when to start checking for doneness.
The above may sound confusing but, the internal temp of a product does not truly indicate when that product is done.
The product is done when it meets the level of doneness that you want.

Thanks. I for the links and I also decided to make the investment in the Thermapen. Based on the reviews on this forum and from Amazon everyone recommended it as the standard. Decided to make the purchase directly from the company as they offered a greater selection of colors (bright orange-easier to see in the dark) without any material difference in price. Thanks everyone for the help
