Interesting week for me

Last week at this time, I had a black OTG Kettle and I was very happy with it, it in very nice condition. I got it for a steal on CL for $40 bux. Someone posted a free 5 - 10 year old One-touch Platinum. I was the first to ask for it so I picked it up. The thought was, fix it up and resell for 60 bux. Then I decide to sell the OTG and keep the Platinum after much angst, I could get more money for the Gold since it is practially new. Low and behold, I find on CL for $100 this:

The person said it was used twice, and it was, the charcoal grate looked brand new in areas. I could not pass it up.
Now I have my OTG and Platinum up on CL and if I get full price(I won't), it would cover th original cost of the OTG, repairs to the Platinum and the cost of the Performer.
Not a bad week.

Someone is coming today to pickup the OTG for $75, so I have 3/4 of the cost of the Performer covered.

When it rains, it pours, eh? I was agonizing over whether to try to buy that Performer myself because I like having propane to ignite charcoal. It looked like a great deal!

You'll love your Performer. I just bought a new one 2 weeks ago, mine is green too. Mine has silver on the cart frame, bottom shelf, and ash catcher though...interesting.

Craigslist is a gold mine for you guys!

Very few use it in Utah. KSL classifieds is far more popular but real gems don't come up too often.

This is the best price I've seen on the newer style Weber. I would have jumped on this except that what I really want is a 26 that I can use as the starting point for a super-performer. I'm even wondering if I should do that with the Ranch from Milwaukee. But I digress. Due to the size of our market I suppose we see more deals than others, but deals like this are still few and far between.

Hank,

Where does your son live in Michigan? I am in Sterling Hts, I wondered how you would have seen this one. I have to say, after getting this one home, it is about as new as you can get. really good value for $100, I just recouped $75 of my $100 spent on this by selling my OT Gold. Fun week, my wife and neighbor think I am half nutz though.

Auburn Hills. I'm glad to hear it was so nice. The next best thing to scoring something for myself is sharing that with someone else on the board.

Cool, good luck finding the 26" er, they are a rare commodity on CL.

JB....And the tank pretty much matches the kettle....WOW...Oh,I probably should go get another pill, No?
About to finish the fixup of my recent '05 Performer find for 75.00. How, so? ...there are three butts in the freezer with a packer 12 lber. The rub is in the cabinet and Meathead's modified Mustard Sauce is done and in the fridge. The Kingsford is stacked,(thanks to the HD sale ) and the new casters fit after some leg work with my favorite Weber dealer assist. I have visited many forums and this Board is extraordinary ! Thanks. I will continue with resto and 1st cook pics. HAPPY PROBING...Dave D.
