Been awhile since I last posted on this forum but I am still actively smoking on my WSM's (and grills). Anyhow I purchased one of the earliest 22" WSM and the bottom is now rusting out. Time to retire. But it is now just my wife and I so I have downsized to the 18" (which I had used for many, many years). So assembling today and find they now have the thermometer grommet (actually like the idea so I don't have to use the wine cork in the top vent) that I cannot figure out how to insert. Tried using soap and that did not work and I saw someone said a little vege oil on the back side. Just wanted to check with you experts (who at my age are a lot smarter than me) as to any tricks to insert the grommet. Thank ya!

I had a difficult time at first. Then I bent it in half to get it started and that worked for me.
