Induction range - thinking of getting one

Currently have a 30” DACOR slide in dual fuel range.
Thinking of replacing it (moving to kids house) with an induction range but am worried about how durable the cooktop is. I already have the electrical in place.

What’s been your experience if I might ask.

I bought a Samsung Bespoke Smart Induction range. The glass top seems very well engineered to not mar or scratch and I've not been "gentle" on it. Honestly my only "complaint" (if you can call it that) is the markings for where to place a pan are not easy to see and I find it very easy to not center a pan correctly.
But, overall it's a breeze to work with, easy as pie to clean, and even despite me dragging stainless steel pans across it, cleans up and looks like it just got unpacked from the box.
IDK how it would stand up to "impact" or really rough use with say cast iron stuff. But, in all reality I'm not likely to find out as honestly "I'm over the cast iron" being legendary for cooking. IMO? MEH keep it. I'm seriously looking to unload all my CI stuff. Too hard to care for, too hard to handle, doesn't really seem to do anything better than quality stainless steel or non stick ceramic cookware.
I've got some fine old pieces if anyone interested :D

Bought an induction burner (Duxtop 9600) to try out the technology. It recognized all my CI, Turns out that my Cuisinart multiclad pro cookware sorta passed the test. The skillets, and (funny enough) the pot lids worked. My saucepans did not work tho slightly magnetic.

A quick email to Cuisinart confirmed what I saw. Due the their age (acquired in 2009), the steel used for the pans are not magnetic enough to work 100% of the time. Their newer versions are ok.

In the end, I’ve decided to stay with my DACOR dual fuel range as I do no wish to replace 1/2 of my cookware and remain concerned with CI scratching the top.

Thanks for the response Larry as it helped keep me from spending a lot of extra money.

So far a few months in and we still love this thing. There are some "quirks" I don't like. The touch screen is one. While easy to clean unless you lock it you're constantly opening the oven door, or activating something or another. But, it's easy enough to simply lock it out. I made a total mess of it the other day. Absolutely disgusting. Some spray cleaner, and some paper towels and it cleaned right up good as new. I also noticed I think I have to level it again. I think the floor is compressing a bit under the weight of the thing.
But, the oven is fantastic. Holds temp great, It's versatile, but one other thing. There is a camera in the oven and apparently something updated and now I cannot get it to work.
Otherwise great device

Yeah. Looking at the different induction ranges they had way too many bells and whistles. I do not need or want WiFi, cameras, or an air fry function. I acknowledge that induction costs more but I was ok with that.

Does your range make buzzing noises when on high?

My DACOR DF range doesn’t have of those features but is a joy to cook on and the oven is marvelous.

When you first turn it on if you put say a pot of water on and hit "boost" function you will get a temporary sound like a hum or buzz but it seems to settle down and go away. Not sure exactly why. Never bothersome and you really need to "listen" for it. Overall it's quite well behaved.

One last question if I may.
What led you to a Samsung?
In general I like their products. (though I have to admit mostly their electronics i.e. cell phones, TV). I wasn't looking for a Samsung per se but it presented at the right time and a great price, plus it matched the Bespoke model line fridge we'd bought a while earlier.
I would have been just as pleased if not more with say a Bosch. But at $700 for a $3500 range? No way I was gonna let it get away
