Last summer my wife and I met some friends for lunch at Beach Avenue BBQ, located on the square in Brookfield, IL. And while I got a photo of the square I forgot the building...oops!
This is what greeted us when we entered. Nice!
The special that day was a smoked double/Iowa pork chop. A big piece of meat!
Of course, with 4 people there was no doubt that we were going to order a sampler. Turkey, rib tips, ribs, brisket and pork.
We also added a sandwich; if memory serves it was chicken.
We didn't forget the sides, either! I believe we had mac & cheese, potato salad, house-made chips, slaw and beans.
We all agreed that this was definitely some of the better restaurant barbecue that we'd tasted, and that we wouldn't hesitate to return. The meats were all properly cooked with a reasonable amount of smoke to appeal to a wide range of palates, and nothing was dry. I didn't try the potato salad and slaw because potato salad and slaw are icky and gross, but the m & c and beans were decent. Although I would've preferred a more assertive cheese sauce.
Beach Ave. is certainly worth checking out for anyone in the area, whether living there or just visiting.
