Identifying this Genesis

I got this Genesis a few years back for free. I don't see many with the side stove top. Is this a rarer model? Would you guys consider this one worthwhile to restore?

It's an old Genesis 3 that someone put together backward

Larry, I think the 1st pic is just taken from the backside. Everything on the grill looks like it’s oriented correctly to me. But need a skinny griller to be able to fit between fence and lid.

Yeah on second look it's right. and btw OP that stuff inside is not paint peeling it's creosote.

What you have there is called a “Diamond in the Rough”. Barring any obscured fire box damage, it absolutely looks like it’s worth restoring.

I agree with LeeHarvey. As long as the aluminum firebox doesn't have burn-through it could be a beautiful grill again. It will take some parts ($) and plenty of elbow grease, but if you stick it out you will have something to be proud of and not at all like the run of the mill bland new stuff at the big box stores.
