I won a 22.5 Weber Smokey Mountain!

I got an email from the Sting Killer Facebook page telling me I won a 22.5 WSM! I replied and they got back to me saying I should have it in a week or two; we'll see... I have been quietly wanting one for a while now and am very excited!

I have plenty of experience grilling and smoking off offsets, Weber kettles, pellet grills etc. but have never used a WSM... what should my first cook be? Any tips or suggestions on firing it up the first time would be appreciated!
 
Congrats MArty. Just go to the cooking topics section of this site and you will have a wide variety of choices. Pulled POrk woould be my choice!
 
That's a great prize. When I got mine I used 14 chicken leg quarters with no water pan and just let her go. Gunked it up real good first time out.
 
Go the the mod threads and start adding, handles, wheels, holes for temp wires', etc. etc. The handles are a must.........................d
 
Id do the 3rd rack mod before you get it dirty. otherwise not much needed. Congrats on the score. I flipped my lid tuesday as I won a Backwoods Chubby G2 in a raffle. I can assure you that my wsm is an irreplaceable cooker.
