I picked up a ham the other day, I can't pass up a good deal. It's a 21lb ready-to-cook shank in ham. It looks to me like the leg of a huge pig.

Anyway, it appears to be too large to lay on its side for my WSM. It looks like I may have to take the top rack out and somehow lean it upright on the bottom rack. Not sure what im going to lean it up against. It's just gigantic.

Any recommendations on smoking time, and how the heck to stand it up?!

Not sure about how to stand it up securely. The one I cooked in the Whole Ham topic was 19 lbs. and layed on its side on the lower grate. Click here for a photo.

If the ham still has the pointy shank end attached, you might cut that off using a hack saw to make it fit on the grate.

Chris
