So in early May I took the plunge and bought one of these........

It went for its maiden voyage on Mother's Day and my wife wanted a prime rib roast so this is what went on the rotisserie........

Got to love the EZ Que!

Cooking away... Yes, that is the Weber's big Book of Burgers on the red table in the background

Done!
The roast came out great!
I bought the performer at Lowes and was able to use the 10% off online coupon so that brought the price down to $314. Right after I ordered it, one of their sales people called and asked if I wanted it assembled before picking it up. I declined since I don't trust the help in the big box stores in terms of free assembly.
I picked it up on Friday May 3 and was glad I didn't choose the free assembly option. I mean would YOU want someone with the name of "Thumper" on their name tag assembling your grill?
It didn't take that long to assemble it myself anyway. I think I was done in about 90 minutes. The hardest part was getting the ash ring part of the one Touch system installed. That part always throws me for a loop. Once I got that installed the rest was pretty easy.
One thing worth noting though. After I installed the ignition panel and screwed on the propane tank, and was about to try it out, I noticed the smell of propane coming from somewhere. I looked where the tank goes on and that was fine. I opened the lid and the smell was stronger there. I then heard the sound of the gas coming out of the burner tube. I had not turned on the gas yet. What the problem turned out to be was that the knob for the gas had been in the ON position even before I opened the plastic packaging and took it out and installed it. That's one flaw to be on the lookout for since there's no way to tell if the knob is in the on position or not before installation. Anyway I turned the gas off and left the lid off for at least 5 minutes to allow for the excess gas to escape. I then turned it on and hit the ignitor button and it fired up just fine.
What to do with the performers predecessor?

Since I have a Smokenator this one will now become the permanent smoker. I just ordered a pair of the 3/8" grommets from Cajun Bandit so after those arrive, I'll install them and it's conversion will be complete. Having this one as the smoker will also keep the Performer a lot cleaner.
