Patrick, I'm not a rehabber...but that thing is a mess! It would be a pass for me, but I'm lazy. How long do you think it will take to clean all that up?

I picked up a free Silver be the guy used charcoal in. Of course it was a mess, but I rehabbed it just fine.
The funny thing about that grill above is the cabinet. Usually that is one place that is normally completely trashed and rusted, but that one looks pretty good actually.

Years ago I was working retail and a man brought back a bag of Kingsford charcoal. He was complaining that it did not last longer as they advertised. He said what came with the grill lasted a lot longer. Yep, he replaced his lava rock with the charcoal. Go figure.

Good for the smoky flavor

It turned out very good, some people do weird things, just be glad you were not invited to stay for dinner.. I picked up a S20210409_120304.jpgilver C that had lava rock loaded in it from flavor bars to just below the grates, the rock was so loaded with grease that many came out in clumps of 5 or 6 . But after removing all of that everything else was pretty clean the drip pan was even a easy clean the rock help the mess.

That looks really nice. Maybe they were on to something. Loading it up with lava rocks from the flavorizers up maybe something to it. I remember my sunbeam used them instead of flavorizers and I was pretty happy with them. Just needed a good cleaning every year and replaced the lava rock as needed.

Yeah that is the key to remove clean and reinstall.
Some folks missed that part of the video. But ow it runs great and cooks even better.
