Hey guys. Ed some help and advice
planning on cooking 5 Pork butts average 8+ lbs each On WSU 22 inch
plan on using heat deflector from drum type smoker instead of water pan. Have grate extender for top rack.
is this possible?
How long for cook at what temp?
thinking about going 275-300. What do you think
any advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Looking for fastest cooking with great results
thanks
John

Should be no problem. 3 on one grate, 2 on the other. I typically cook my pork butts @ 275-300 & they are usually done in around 10 hours. I use water and do not wrap.

I've done 6 at the same time. I try to hold 225 to 235. I use a 50/50 blend of water and apple juice. It's right around 14 hr or so with wrap on wsm then l put them in the coolers to rest for 2 hrs of so. You'll find on this wonderful forum that there are different ways of running a smoker with great results. And to borrow a famous line on this forum is: when it's done it's done.

Thank you for the reply Jim

I cooked 5 of that size on my 18.5 so it should work fine. My cook was at 225 and the first came off at 18 hrs. Your temperature choice should give you a much faster cook.
