How/where to find sideburner parts for my Genesis Silver

I had a moment of idiocy when I set my charcoal chimney over my side burner on my Weber. What a great way to get the coals going for my PBC. Turns out it only works once as it melted down the burner unit.

I'd hoped I'd be able to find the part on line (the cap and the rest of the unit is fine, just the aluminum burner is shot). Turns out it's not available anymore. I can buy complete side burner kits for a little over $100 but that's not worth it to me. Checked Ebay and CL, hoping to either find some used parts or a cheap junker just to rob it from, no luck.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to look for this or maybe a substitute that would work for sure?

As long as we're at it, when I bought this grill I loaded it into the back of my truck (already assembled) and the gray table on the left side of the grill blew out of the truck on the way home. I still have the swing up table, just a big hole behind it. I'd love to find one of those too.

Hi Scott,

Welcome to TVWBB forum! I might be able to help you with the gray table. Can you post a picture of what you do have so I can try to match? There were different designs, so I want to see if I have the right one. You will need to use a web picture hosting site like Imgur or the one I use TinyPic.com. You upload your pictures and copy a special link to your posting so that the picture will appear in your thread post.

The best bet for finding a burner part like you need is to keep scouting OfferUp, Craigslist, Facebook market, etc. to see if you can find a bargain on a another old beat-up Genesis with a side burner. They are out there, sometimes even free. I wouldn't spend a $100 bucks just because you need one part.

See if you can post a picture of your remaining swing table and I will go through my "Weber shed" and see what I have that I can spare cheap.

Jon

Thanks Jon!

Here is a pic of the unit. If you need more details let me know.

Jon is right. Unless someone on this forum has an extra burner they are willing to sell you, your best bet is probably to find a donor grill on craigslist, facebook or one of the other selling sites. It might take a while, but eventually you will find one for $50 or less. Maybe even a curb pickup.

The side table looks like it is probably a regular thermoset side table and they are pretty common. I can probably hook you up with one if necessary.

I had a similar grill that I hauled home in my truck. Had it facing forward and having never transported a grill with the extra burner, I didn't even think of the lid for the extra burner and it obviously flipped up and flew off when I hit the interstate at 70mph. I was lucky enough to have another member of this list sell me one along with the trivet that also took flight during the drive.

I have transported a lot of grills with the thermoset tables and never had one fly off. I think in the future, I might pull them off the grill before driving off.

That is not an ordinary side burner as most Genesis grills have it is the Summit type burner. The regular Genesis burner is just stamped aluminum

Thanks Jon!

Scott, I know which one it is. Let me scout my shed inventory. If you are close enough to Bruce you might do better with him than the cost of shipping from me in Florida. I will let you know what I have.

Your point? Are you saying I might be able to source a burner from a different model?

Yes if you can find the burner from a Summit (which I might just have that part) (btw this is the older Summit type) if Bruce cannot help I might be able to. BTW you and Bruce are almost neighbors LOL
