How to Clean and Polish Ash Buckets

What are others using to clean and polish some of these older ash buckets that get dull over time? Are you able to make them shine like new again?

Using “stick” compounds you will need a dedicated wheel for each one. Contamination between the coarse and finer sticks will be a problem.
My method for keeping those properly identified was to use a marker of appropriate color for each and start the wheel then touch the marker near the center.
You will also need to “rake” the wheel from time to time as it gets a bit gunked up and will need cleaning.
I probably should clean the ash pans on mine but, I only think of it either when it’s in use or the dead of winter when I really don’t feel like it.

Thanks Timothy. I did buy several wheels so am good there. Don’t have a rake so will look into that. Even got some really small ones for the Dremel to do the vents on the kettles, SJ and CGA. Didn’t need them but they were really cheap so figured, what the heck. Those little jobs I can do inside during the winter. lol
My Weber projects like my 3000 refurb took a backseat to others this summer, so next year. 🤞🏻
 
The rakes we used at the jewelry store were a stamped affair with tines that were just zig zag cutting edges. Cheap, try a jewelers supply catalog, maybe Rio Grande (if they are still in business).
 
I used 3M pads ( scotch brite)? Red, green and I spritzed with alcohol for a wet sand.
Years ago Weber painted the ash buckets black on some models, so that's what I did on my 06 OTG with Rustoleum HH.
It still looks good, nice contrast.
