How long for a Boston Butt (approx. 9 pounds) to thaw in the fridge?

Bought a two-pack at Sam's a couple of weeks ago due to a great price and froze them individually. Hauling one of them out next weekend. How long before the cook should I transfer it from the freezer to the fridge?

3 days. If it's still frozen in the middle, it's fine. You can run cold water on it if needs to thaw more.

I think so. I've been doing this for years. All I can say is that the color of the meat is great and haven't ever noticed any appreciable loss in flavor. It really makes a pronounced smoke ring. Try a comparison . Do one frozen and one not and see for yourself

I followed Paul's lead on using frozen butts before and thought they came out fantastic..
