How long are ribs good in refrigerator

I bought 2 slabs of St. Louis style ribs from BJ's on 8/19. The package said that it should be sold by 8/28.

Does this mean I can keep them in the refrigerator until 8/28 or do you think I should freeze them?

I plan on smoking them this weekend.

Any help would be appreciated.

Robert, I agree. As a general rule of thumb, if the meat has been packaged properly and stayed in the safe temp zone, I will hold in the fridge a week if necessary.

As long as your fridge is cold enough they should be fine. I suggested a good fridge thermometer. You would be surprised how many peoples fridges are in the 40-50 degree range.

thanks guys. Can't wait to smoke em up!

Hey Rob,
Glad to see you firing the WSM up this weekend. We are going to be getting great weather for a smoke here in Mass.

Do you always get your meat at Bjs? How are the prices, quality? I just did my first ribs ever on the WSM and got them from Butcher Boy in N. Andover. Came out unreal and they got a huge selection of BBQ stuff (charcoal, rubs, sauces, who'd, etc.)

Let me know how the ribs go - not too many Yankees like us are smoking' in these parts!
