How can I get this back in the hole?

Not a big deal really if it doesn’t work out, but this threaded insert pulled out of its hole.

I tried putting a block of wood against it and pounding with a hammer but no luck and nothing budged.

Anyone far smarter than me have any good ideas?

I hate when that happens. Try this. Pound it flat with a small machinist hammer (like a small VERY small) ball peen. Then get yourself a pop rivet gun and some "captive nuts" that work with it. I think that will fix you right up!

I get it flush to the surface and tack weld the rivnut in place so it doesn’t spin

Or I go up in size on the rivnut.

Thanks, those give me some ideas. But I ran into a new problem.

How can I get these lid pins out? They won’t budge.

Put a small socket on the back side, use a small C clamp to push it out. Liberal use of heat and or penetrant will help. But if you don't want to crack it support it. An old mechanic talkin here and speaking from MANY years of experience doing this

Thanks, I tried searching the forums first but failed, but now that you said C Clamp it jogged my memory. Using “clamp” in the search I found this thread I was looking for:
