Seems like perhaps the simplest way to move my WSM around would be to devise some way to strap it to a dolly but I think the legs may be a bit too far apart for that. Ever seen anyone do something like this? Any ideas or tips?
Ryan, not sure what you are asking. Give a little more description of what you are trying to do. I just ordered some toggle clamps to snap down the feet of my smoker(s) to a cart I made. Not sure from your description if something like that would help but tell me more
I just put moving dolly wheels (tri-sets from Harbor Freight) on my 22". Easy to roll it anywhere I want - then again, I don't have to move it up/down any significant steps or changes in elevation.
Before I added wheels to my 18.5" WSM that's what I used. Don't ask how I know this, but don't forget to empty the water pan or if going waterless make sure to dump the drippings in another container B-4 you tilt it back and head out.
Like Pete said you just need to fab a bigger base for the 22.5"
I'm not sure that this is what anyone has in mind, but I made this from some leftover 5/8" plywood I had in the garage - the cooker nests in the upper portion. I did buy 3 caster wheels (2 fixed and one swivel that locks) and that was it. Since these pix I have painted it satin black. The WSM is stored alongside my garage and I can easily wheel it out onto my patio.
