Home alone.... just me and my grill

Sheila's out of town so I can eat whatever I want and as much of it!! Ok.... I'll be in trouble when she gets home if I don't clean up the place.

For dinner; just burgers, fries and a chocolate malt. I ended up eating two burgers.

Started with some boneless short ribs; this is about as good as it gets for burgers imo.

I use a large grind for my burgers. Into the grinder it goes.

Patties are formed; about 6 oz each.

Is your grinder attached to your stand mixer? I did not know that was an attachment option. Makes me want one even more. Good first meal!

Sheila's not due back till later so breakfast for one comin' up.

Saw John Solak's post a week ago or so and I was inspired to try some eggs and verde salsa myself.

Got everything ready...

Hi Matt; yes! Found a used one on ebay a few years ago and it's been a lot of fun grinding my own burgers and sausage too. You'll really enjoy it.

Those burgers, fries and malt look really good.... Never had a malt but I'm pretty sure I'd love it...

I think so Leo; I pretty much always will have a malt over a shake. Just has a better flavor imo.

Wow Pete, amazing cook, and I'd love to know your recipe for the malt.

Hi Mike; I do this in a standard blender and they're really simple.

Good chocolate ice cream - 10 oz

Whole Milk - 2 oz

Carnation Malted Milk (powdered that comes in a plastic bottle) - 2 tablespoons

You can adjust these to what you like. Carnation makes a malted milk powder in "regular" and one that is chocolate. I just use their regular or original and that works fine for me! Hope you like it too.

Pete they look great. How do you like the grinding attachment for your Kitchenaid? Do you use it often?

Hi Rolf; thank you. I think the attachment is fantastic! I use my Kitchenaid a lot for pizza dough and bread making so being able to increase its usefulness with the grinder attachment was just a big plus. Mine was used, but there's not too much to these grinders and it works just fine. America's Test Kitchen did a test of meat grinders and the KA was one of two that were "highly recommended". The other is a dedicated grinder; the Waring Pro which retails for $199.

Burgers fries and a malt, you sure do know how to live it up when the missus is gone. Using short rib meat is an added bonus, well done Pete!!! Breakfast looks outstanding as well!!

Looks outstanding. Love the photos. Like Rolf, I was curious about KA grinder attachment. I read mixed reviews....some folks say there is grey stuff that gets mixed in with meat. Have you had any issues with KA grinder attachment with odd tastes or metal grease?

Well I think everyone's wife's out of town but mine.
Nice looking everything. Looks great.
