Holding a turkey in a faux cambro.

It looks like we are having Thanksgiving at my mother's house this year which is about a hour and half away. I REALLY want to cook the turkey this year as I've done in years past. Anyone know how long a Turkey will keep in a cooler. I know I'm pretty much going to lose the skin. My other option is to try to lug my weber kettle there and cook it there. My mom's husband doesn't have much in the way of decent grills.

If you stash a few hot foil-wrapped bricks in the bottom of the cooler (put them on a towel or some cardboard so they don't melt the cooler!), it should stay nice and toasty for the ride. You might be able to revive the skin in a very hot oven for a few minutes.

A turkey will stay piping hot sitting on the counter for at least an hour or so. In a cooler no problems for that ride.
