Hi all, about 18 years ago I built an outdoor kitchen with a Summit D4 Platinum set-in grill. Replacing things in the past has been pretty easy. But now the cookbox is dying- a few holes and all those little fasteners are seared to a very fine extra well done. Seems Weber has no replacement cookboxes. Anybody know a good fabricator to rebuilt this? Oh, forgot to mention-- the outdoor kitchen is built of filled concrete blocks with a granite top-- to the Weber dimension specs. And of course, they've changed the dimensions through the years.

John, I've got a 4-burner stand alone grill that I pirated some parts off of for my 6-burner refit. You are welcome to any parts of it that might help you out. I will have to verify the status of the front panel on the cookbox (the one the burners run through, and which is prone to rust/burn out.) The lid is in good shape, as is the manifold/burner/valve setup----NOTE: it's an NG manifold, and it is missing one valve.... if you have an NG grill, though, these would be good spares.

Let me know what you might be interested in, and I can take a look at what I've got, send pics, etc.

Barring any of my stuff being helpful, any metal fabricator with a brake set-up could fab the replacement cookbox parts.....the question would likely be more about whether the cost was worth it to you or not. Some folks on here have made their own due to access to the tools, and I think one of our members worked with a local trade-school or community college metal shop class to make it a project for them. YMMV.....

Oh, and, welcome! :)

Rich, thank you so much. I hope you had a great 4th! Yes I am interested in the parts. Generally my Weber is in good shape. I even bought a new manifold a couple years ago just to make sure I had one if mine failed! Seems like I'm used to stuff becoming obsolete and parts following not long after. I really like my old Weber-- I'll keep chasing fixes.

I will take some pictures today and send them off. Where are you located?

Hi Mark! I am so impressed already with this forum-- I've been in some other types of forums and they are usually pretty ho-hum. I've already had some really good contacts and info here.

John, Weber may not have any replacement cookboxes for your grill but that doesn't necessarily mean you can't still get one. You may be able to still get one from one of the many third party vendors that sell parts. Maybe you've tried this already but Google the model # of your grill and see what comes up on one of these sites. I've also found discontinued parts on Ebay and Facebook. Good luck!

John, sorry, I missed this post earlier. I'm in Redwood City.

You are welcome to any/all parts that might be useful for you and your SP. Shoot me a PM, and we can trade info! :)
