Problem....hardwoods are sure scarce around here. I have been reading the comments about woods with interest. I see by the postings most of the guys and gals are from the Eastern, Central part of the country. Is there anyone closer to home here in the NW that has any good info. on buying Oak, Cherry, apple? I would sure appreciate it.

Charlie,

BBQ Galore has a store in Portland, but I'm not sure how far that is from you. They have an excellent assortment of woods. You can even order hardwood online from many of the online stores. Depends on what you want, some of it is available in hardware stores in the 'que section, such as hickory and/or mesquite is commonly found. Ace hardware has some, and they carry Traeger's pellets by me in a 20# bag. Even the supermarkets down in NorCal carry hardwood chips and chunks, in many stores. Safeway stores carry some by me, I know they have Safeways up in Oregon, or at least did when I lived up there in the late '70s...in fact, the 1200 person (at the time) town of Cottage Grove which I lived in *ONLY* had a Safeway, and not much else...hehehe...

I saw a lot of cherry orchards near The Dalles
this summer. Try some of the orchards.
