Help with PID settings?

Hello all -

Doing a 18 hour pork butt cook and thinks started off very well. After 10-12 hours, temp fluctuations/oscillations started to happen. Current settings are:

Bias: 4
Proportional: 2
Integral: 0.01
Derivative: 15
Fan%: 40 (I tried 75 too, no help)
Bottom vents closed, top vent open 50%

Graph of the issues below - any suggestions on settings or ways to fix this? Thanks!

Any additional info? What kind of smoker, fan, charcoal, etc.
initially, it looks as if your I and D are a bit high.

Sorry, yes. 18.5" WSM with standard kingsford blue bag charcoal. Believe the fan is 10 cfm (50mm Delta blower, model BFB0512VHD).

OK, it's a 6.7 CFM fan. 40% max is fine for an 18.5" WSM. On my WSM, I pretty much use the stock settings of

P 3
I 0.005
D 5

No Bias on the latest firmware.

How are you connecting your fan? are you running a damper as well? Try the settings above on your next cook. Should go well.

Good luck, mate.
