on my black 2011 Genesis 330. BKF cleaned up and put a really nice shine on the stainless steel portion of the grill, i.e side arms but the black lid did not take so well. It kept drying with a white residue from BKF, no matter how many times I tried rescrubbing it and/or watering it down. Is this normal on the black lid? Is it because its coated and not just stainless steel? Any pointers? Many thanks!

I think you may have scratched your finish. When the lid dries, can you take your finger and rub it and have a spot that is not white? If it is not scratched, I would use a dry soft cloth to remove the residue. My fear is that it's scratched.

I use barkeepers helper all the time, and it will not scratch the porcelain finish on weber kettles. I don't have a weber gasser, so I don't know what kind of finish that it has. That stuff puts quite a shine on the kettles, though.

A Cleland, Howdy;

Most scouring powders are a female dog to flush off a surface...... try using some oxy-clean
mixed in some water and a clean terrycloth rag. should help prevent waterspots from forming too.
