Hi Everyone! New member/kettle owner here. I am a member of the Weber kettle fans fb page and saw everyone raving about the vortex so I had to get my hands on one.
I found a used Weber platinum on fb marketplace that was in really good shape. The previous owner turned me on to this forum. Tried out some wings and liked it so much that the following day I found another Weber master touch for a really good deal. Overnight I went from 0 to 2 kettles.
In terms of accessories, I picked up a couple of vortexes and the previous owner helped me pick out some new grates. He also provided me with some tips to clean the old grates so that I can keep them as spares. Very nice guy!!!
So far, I’ve only cooked wings, but I think I’m gonna try some bacon wrapped hot dogs today to see how the vortex handles bacon flare ups!
Anyway, greetings from VA—I’m excited to learn more about how to put these bad boys to proper use!
