this looks like a place were i can feel at home. i grew up eating q. off of dads kettle. (he raised me as a single parent. and an only child). i remember as a kid how good his meat would be. but also thought why does it take so long. So when i "grew up" i bought my own grill. you know the one iam talking about. it was stainless steel it had the burner on the side. it could char a burger like nobodies buisness . and my kids were fed in a timely matter. Well dad passed away about a year and a half ago. so i pulled out one of his old kettles (wooden handles and all} set up some indirect heat and slow cooked some ribs. AS i stood next to the grill for six hours keeping track of the temp. i felt close to my dad again. As for my boys. they loved the ribs. but wondered why it took so long.

Welcome to the group. It's great to see traditions passed down from generation to generation. Good lesson for the kids that life isn't all about instant gratification.
