Hello everyone. I have been a casual smoker (3 or 4 butts/year!) for the past few years on a vertical gas smoker. I own a Genesis E-310 for grilling/rotisserie.

We recently purchased a Smokey Joe 14" Premium for camping trips and then yesterday found a great deal on CL for a 22.5" Original Kettle with a cover/chimney/charcoal storage bucket; brand new - $75!!

I've always wanted to try real BBQ as a feel like cheating somewhat with the gas smoker (although I get good results).

Hoping to get some ideas and inspiration from this forum. Especially keen on techniques for temp control with charcoal (it was easy with the gas smoker!)

Welcome Pete, I'm in the same boat as you. I've had a gas smoker for a while but lately it feels like cheating. I'm hoping to get a WSM soon. Looking forward to seeing what you cook up.
