Happen to Anyone Else with Amazon?

So, I am shopping for a new whole home mesh wifi system. I like the Google Nest WIFI as I actually had one but according to Google the one I bought had a defect and they wanted to replace it for me. Unfortunately I had already done the Amazon return and dropped it off at Kohl's. So yesterday I am looking and I see the same system priced at $134 plus an available 5% off coupon. Did not have time to go through with a purchase as I still wanted to explore one other thing and, my pressure cooker was working with my ossobuco in it. So I filed the two things away in my "wish list", finished cooking, ate and came back to the list. Well waddaya know? Price was not UP $12 and no coupon!
Kinda "miffed"

Check Costco or Sam's. They often have them on sale. I bought one from Costco...it was Google's less than newest version at the time. I returned it because the wireless Xfinity cable box wouldn't work with it.

Your Xfinity box already had a router in it. Had you turned it off it would have worked fine. I had to do the same at my dad's house because the Xfinity product is so bad

yes. Amazon is dynamic pricing. I keep items in my cart and check daily as prices and promos change often.

Having the items in your cart, when you check your cart the next time it’ll notify you of any price changes.

We use ASUS Wi-Fi products both in the home and office. Very high quality and solid support and updates.

Turned out that all works fine with a $35 range extender from Amazon. I opted for a MoCa adapter for my 75" tv in the basement. All works 👌

This is what I have good price for a refurbished one on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JBXM83R/?tag=tvwb-20

Here is one of many articles: https://www.androidcentral.com/google-wifi-vs-orbi-vs-eero-vs-amplifi

The Orbi is a tri-band which has inherent advantages. Had it for years got 4 friends who bought the same thing. The Orbi will be your gateway I have ATT so that gateway into the Orbi, my satelite is in the basement the main stuff is on the first floor. Its not hard to setup but what people miss is after you set it up you need to disable the wifi on your original bands in your gateway as the Orbi will handle everything. If you leave it enabled they can collide.

My basement is finished and that was the problem with my signal until I set the Orbi up. The until on the first floor easily covers the 2nd floor so I only have or need one satelite. When they say 5000 sq feet they aren't kidding as my area is probably about 4500.

Good it works for you but not everybody, a range extender lowers speed over the network. It uses electrical current to extend the signal and if your box is loaded it degrades the speed even more.

Yep. Was going to buy a new blender and was mulling over my options. Put the Vitamix in the cart and poked around a while. Decided to order the Vitamix and it went up almost forty bucks. Hoping it will drop back down in the next little while. I check every few days.

There are apps that you can use to see if a given price on Amazon is good or not. I have used “priceplus” but there are probably better ones out there

Here is the price history for a grease gun I considered buying a while back for reference

I find it useful at times

Check Costco. They run sales on them too. And online Costco.com as well.

Yep, Costco has tremendous deals sometimes. I have seen the KitchenAid 6 qt Pro 600 as low as $279! Even at $399 it's incredible

It doesn't show all price fluctuations.

It does show trends and low prices
And any click on a "View at Amazon" or "Buy Now" link there sets a cookie with their affiliate tag. So, if you want TVWBB to get credit for what you ultimately purchase, click on the Amazon link here before adding anything to your cart.

Currently I use Amazon Smile and have donations go to my brother in law's and sister's organization because of the wonderful work he does for the Englewood community of Chicago. https://shepherdshopechicago.org/ Sadly Amazon is discontinuing the Smile program. So without that I will be using the "click through" for TVWBB and simply make larger monetary donations than we already do to Shepard's Hope.
Wife and I since the breakup of our home church (what had been Heartland Community Church) by a person who engineered some pretty awful things against the lead pastor and who literally made my skin crawl, along with the nonsense of closing down churches and schools have not found a church we felt comfortable becoming members of. So instead of tithing through a church we now contribute generously and directly to organization like Shepard's Hope, and others in the Rockford region. But the main portion of our finds goes to Shepard's Hope.
The Amazon Smile program was just another small way we helped. Now we'll help TVWBB

How long have you had this system and has it been a solid performer? My house is not that large, (maybe 1800') area inside to cover 2500 counting basement (though main unit would have to go down there). But I need it to reach outside the house. Out about 75' away to cover security issues and such. So this thing looks like the cat's pajamas.

At least 5 years I think, funny thing is I have gig fiber had one of those extenders but it was set up as an access point could not get more that 100 out of it. I called ATT they sent a real ATT guy out, he is the one who educated me on those extenders and the drawbacks. He was also the guy who told me to go with the Orbi if I wanted the best signal as well as speed.

Not a network guy I don't think having it in the basement would hurt the first floor as my satelite is in the basement instead of the main unit in the basement. I don't know about 75' out of a concrete basement lets assume you put the satelite out in your shed or whatever. Only one way to find out and its Amazon. Its possible you might need another satelite if you had an ethernet cable to the shed you could run a hard wire to that satelite as the satelite has ports on it.

Orbi tri band routers pretty much beat anything out there that has not changed much in years but it does not support wifi 6 which most people don't have devices that can support that anyway. Iphone 11 and up yes, my 5 year old laptop no, my ecobee therms no my apple tv yes I think. So if you want wifi 6 then you need to pay up, Orbi has mesh routers also and they are not cheap by any means.

Article on wifi 6 if your interested.

Edit: Unless you have a very new gateway and I am calling ATT tomorrow or the next day it appears they have a Wifi 6 unit now I am guessing most of us only have wifi 5 gateways but remember the Orbi is running things now so your not going to get 6 on the tri band. Personally I could care less I have gig fiber its plenty fast enough and I have more than 10 devices hanging off it.
