So, I am close to pulling the trigger on purchasing the WSM 22.5 inch and also want to purchase a good cover. Amazon recommends the premium Weber cover to fit 22.5 inch kettle grills. Does this fit the smoker well, or does it drag on the ground, leave too much smoker exposed etc? Thanks!

A Weber cover should be included in the package.
Yup, I just ordered mine a few weeks ago (22.5 WSM) and they are being shipped with a nice, thick, Weber branded cover. Not sure why Amazon suggests you buy another one, sneaky. It covers all but the bottom 6"-8" of the bullet. I wish the same were true for their gas grills. A cover just set me back $50 for my new Genesis.

If you scan down on amazon's web page for the WSM 22.5, you'll see that a premium cover is included.

I just purchased a Performer from a local Fireplace/BBQ place a couple of weeks ago and when I asked about a discount on the price, they said Weber controls the pricing and wouldn't let them make any discounts. However, they said that Weber does allow them to throw in a free cover. Not sure if it only applies to the Performers or more expensive grills, but be sure to ask about a free cover if you're buying a new grill. I'd bet that this is only for the locally-owned places, not Lowes or Home Depot or other big stores but it can't hurt to ask.
BTW, if you add handles to your WSM (mid-section) the stock cover won't fit anymore. At least not on the 18.5" WSM. After I added handles I ended up getting a 22" kettle cover which covers as much of the smoker as the stock cover did.

And to take that one step further. If you have the WSM in your shopping cart prior to going through the website link, I don't think the website gets credit even if you purchase through the site. I always go back to Amazon prior to ordering and remove anything I've put in my shopping cart and then go through the website. This applies to anything purchased on Amazon, not just Weber stuff.
