Hi Folks,

I have been BBQing for many moons but have only just today upgraded to a WSM 22.

I have been using a 57 cm One touch Platinum like the Performer. It must be at least Ten years old but still going great. I have fitted it with a smokenator and a Craycort segmented grate. I also have a Bradley Original with Cold smoke attachment.

Regarding the WSM. I am short of 2 fibre washers. Are they 3/8 inch washers? Another thing, I was amazed how flimsy the door is. Would it be wise to fit a gasket kit?

I am really looking forward to using the WSM and this forum!!

It is true isn't it. BBQ is a way of life!!!!

Alan :)

Welcome Alan. I need to ck on the size of those washers. I'll bet if you call Weber they'll send them to you free.

Some people do put a gasket kit on the door and others order a door from Cajun Bandit but I just use the flimsy door ...it works fine for me.

Welcome from NEW England! Great to have you here. The door of the WSM is very light but I have not found it to be a problem. I used to worry over losing smoke and/or heat from various little crevices but after turning out a lot of good BBQ I learned to relax. I would say use your WSM a handful of times before you make any mods....with the exception of wiring the charcoal ring to the grate. That is a must.:wsm:

Hi Alan! Welcome to the forum! Careful... it can become addictive. :)

Cajun bandit sells a replacement door for the WSM that many here prefer over the flimsy oem Weber one. http://cajunbandit.com/wsm-parts-mods/

If they won't ship it to you, I may be able to send it to you.... Of course, I am eying the Weber warming rack for my 22.5" kettle which is sold in Europe and not the US... I wonder why that is.
