Between Detroit and Toronto. I've had an 18.5 WSM for 15 years. I do a dozen or so cooks on it per year and everything on it is still original. I put a power draft control on it ten years ago and bought a "coat" for windy / cold cooks and I can't think of any rig I'd rather have for smoking. I have a Smokey Joe for road trips and my mod on that is an upside down pie pan with holes cut in it to diffuse the incoming air better. I recently got a really well rebuilt maroon original kettle to replace my chargriller. I was amazed at how well that cleaned up.
I joined the group to get some ideas and tips for rebuilding old Weber gassers, given how good the rebuilt kettle looks. I have a Vermont Castings (well built, thick cast iron grills, stupid warming drawer) so I'm not at all familiar with Genesis grills. There are a few of them out there for $50 - $100 so what could possibly go wrong?
Living outside the city with an apple tree and cherry tree in the yard and an abattoir just down the road.
