So you are just going to leave snarky comments after everything I post? Not sure exactly what about my posts have rubbed you the wrong way, but I hope you get over it soon. Didn't think I would have to ignore anyone on this board of all places, but here we are.
It's not you; it's him. He has a long history of this rude or child-like behavior. He has capacity for showing mutual respect because he has on occasion done so, yet he always reverts to what we're seeing here on this thread and he's not ashamed of it.

I’m not upset. You posted on a public forum. I merely stated it doesn’t make sense, and then I made one, one, snarky comment and got bombarded, even the boss man chose to chime in. I should feel so honored….🙇‍♂️

Forums are a funny place. As long as you go along with the popular thinking you’re a golden boy, but the slightest bit of veering against the grain on something and they come out of the woodwork. Classic.

By all means. Piss away your money. I posted that it doesn’t make sense and that still holds true

Yeah? Show ‘em. Let’s see this “long history”

Totally incorrect. Not even remotely in the ballpark.

Or maybe, just maybe….they don’t actually fail as much as folks want to pretend. Thereby, being a pointless market to enter with cheap crap.

Mind blowing ain’t it? Amazing what one can see when they don’t scarf down the internet tales…
I’m not using the internet to influence my opinion. I did own and use a Weber Smokefire for about a year.
I then purchased a 4-5 year old quality pellet grill. The internal parts of my current 6 plus year old grill are in better shape than my Weber Smokefire after only 7 months of use. Weber did replace many of the internal parts at no charge. But damn, why did they have to do this? Well it wasn’t because they used quality material and parts.
Mind blowing…what’s mind blowing is to pull the Weber auger and motor and lay it next to a quality built auger and motor. Have you ever actually hands on compared the Weber parts to another pellet grill in the $1500+ price range? That’s what is mind blowing. And the kicker…these better quality parts cost less to buy than the Weber OEM parts. Since selling my Smokefire I have had zero pellet jams and no other issues of any kind running my current grill. Even my glow plug was original until I chose to upgrade to the Nitrate rod. And that was only $20.
I’m a Weber fan. I still own 4 other Weber grills that I love. “MY” Smokefire was a limping horse from the start, even being a 2nd Gen.
Weber chose not only to introduce a non standard design, I have no issue with this, but also to use proprietary Motor, Auger, Burn Pot, Hot Rod to control profit of replacement parts on the cheap. And I would have been fine with that if the parts were quality made.
Why in the world should I have to buy a hose clamp and install it on my hot rod to keep the connection on a new grill?
Since Weber “only” recommended using their pellets, and they are no where to be found in South Houston, what now? Owners now have to shop pellets with similar size to avoid jams? Again, the Smoke Fire uses a smaller diameter auger and tube to save money. In turn it makes the Smokefire more prone to jams. This is not my opinion. This is what Weber Custom Service told me early on when I was calling about auger jam issues.
Some people are happy spending their time troubleshooting and replacing parts. I’m also OK with that. It’s great to have choices.
Cheers

So you believe the internal parts of the Smokefire are quality made parts from quality materials you would expect to see in a $1600 grill?
My day one SmokeFire was $1199.
It’s a better built smoker than some of the other brands I’ve seen.
Now some parts are too thin on the interior, that’s true. Do I wish every part was stainless, yes.

However it’s a big departure from pellet grill norms and I think most of the parts ended up as one offs for the SmokeFire. Slanted auger, rear feed, flavorizer bars verses a bigger catch all style.
They had great ideas. Some didn’t work out, you gotta start somewhere. I also personally feel the SmokeFire puts out way more smoke flavor than other pellet grills in its price range.
But hey what do I know?
I plan to keep mine until it spits the bit, I have set aside a budget in my mind I would spend on more parts, $300 max, then if it needs more I may have to let it go.
It’s been documented many people had issues including myself the first year.
Thanks to the great Lew Newby I ended up with an amazing top grate that allows me to keep pans underneath my smokes. It works well. In fact the Weber connect app and the latest SmokeFire updates have it running better than ever.

I was basing the Smokefire price off the 36” retail price at the time I purchased mine. We all know the price came down to $600 range when they were blowing them out.
I have only owned 2 pellet grills and eaten food off 3-4 other brands. They were all pretty darn good. And I initially didn’t want to like pellet grills being old school. But a good friend bought a Pit Boss about 3 years ago for under $500. I gave him crap about it for many moths because of the cheap thin metal. It’s his only grill and I know he uses it 2-3 times more than I ever used my Smokefire because I switch up grills. To date he has not had a failed cook or replaced a part.
I hope the new Searwood does well. I hope Weber has stepped up the auger and tube size. It looks like they moved the thin flavorizer hangers to each end, further from the higher heat. I hope that helps as well. I have no idea if they have changed up the hot rod design. But the lower prices on the Searwood are definitely more in line with build quality.
I respect your interactions.

Look at guys on here, Camp Chef killing it for Rich, Big Z for Larry. They all have positives.
When the SmokeFire came out it was $1199 for the XL.
As for the Searwood seems like it does a good job so far.
I wasn’t blown away when I saw it in person.
I’m currently leaning towards a camp chef Woodwind pro if I was buying today.

I had the Woodwind Pro in a Shopping Cart several times. Seems like a solid choice.

Don't mess around get a LSG pellet if that's what you want. A pellet grill that is. You want American quality and over built to last a life time or two. Don't mess around with tinker toys.
One day when I have $4k plus burning a hole in my pocket you better believe I'd have one. For now? I'm retired, VERY modest (but fairly comfortable) income. We get by. So for my situation the $700 Z was a HUGE expenditure. But, I'll tell ya what. Send me a winning lotto ticket and once I collect IMA grab me one of those LSGs :D

If I win the lottery I’ll ship a few out to all you guys.
If I smoked more I would love to have one.
I think it’s safe to say in my family we grill a lot more than smoke.

Under 3k.

Still. Though would like to know on what planet. When I priced them they were over $4k. In any case anything over $900 is already crazy rich for my blood. I am frugal. Hell, back in August 2020 we bought our first brand new car since 1987! Not because we couldn't but because I watch my coin. So given that. I likely won't buy another new car until 2050. Of course I'll be driving it around with Jesus :D

I feel the same way about my Pitts and Spitts Maverick 1250. Picked it up used in great condition for $1000. Zero regrets and zero problems so far. And parts are easy to find and reasonably priced.
