Totally incorrect. Not even remotely in the ballpark.
Or maybe, just maybe….they don’t actually fail as much as folks want to pretend. Thereby, being a pointless market to enter with cheap crap.
Mind blowing ain’t it? Amazing what one can see when they don’t scarf down the internet tales…
I’m not using the internet to influence my opinion. I did own and use a Weber Smokefire for about a year.
I then purchased a 4-5 year old quality pellet grill. The internal parts of my current 6 plus year old grill are in better shape than my Weber Smokefire after only 7 months of use. Weber did replace many of the internal parts at no charge. But damn, why did they have to do this? Well it wasn’t because they used quality material and parts.
Mind blowing…what’s mind blowing is to pull the Weber auger and motor and lay it next to a quality built auger and motor. Have you ever actually hands on compared the Weber parts to another pellet grill in the $1500+ price range? That’s what is mind blowing. And the kicker…these better quality parts cost less to buy than the Weber OEM parts. Since selling my Smokefire I have had zero pellet jams and no other issues of any kind running my current grill. Even my glow plug was original until I chose to upgrade to the Nitrate rod. And that was only $20.
I’m a Weber fan. I still own 4 other Weber grills that I love. “MY” Smokefire was a limping horse from the start, even being a 2nd Gen.
Weber chose not only to introduce a non standard design, I have no issue with this, but also to use proprietary Motor, Auger, Burn Pot, Hot Rod to control profit of replacement parts on the cheap. And I would have been fine with that if the parts were quality made.
Why in the world should I have to buy a hose clamp and install it on my hot rod to keep the connection on a new grill?
Since Weber “only” recommended using their pellets, and they are no where to be found in South Houston, what now? Owners now have to shop pellets with similar size to avoid jams? Again, the Smoke Fire uses a smaller diameter auger and tube to save money. In turn it makes the Smokefire more prone to jams. This is not my opinion. This is what Weber Custom Service told me early on when I was calling about auger jam issues.
Some people are happy spending their time troubleshooting and replacing parts. I’m also OK with that. It’s great to have choices.
Cheers
