Wolgast TVWBB Olympian Sep 9, 2011 #2 Oak is good with everything. But if used in a bird cook dont use to mutch. I use oak and fruit wood almost exclusively. Dont know if the former "barrel" life will add anything to the flavour. But it sure adds to the smell while smoking.
