Gold Performer vs Platinum Performer question

Is the extra $50 worth it for the gas assist on the Platinum to light the charcoal? Already have a chimney starter with my 22.5 WSM and not sure about how effective the gas assist is for starting the coals. Anyone care to weigh in?? Thanks!!

Go for the platinum it's well worth the extra $$. I use my performer 10 times more than I did my OTS because of the ease of lighting the coals, just about as easy as using a gasser and as Chris Arnold stated I use the performer to light the chimney when I use my mini wsm.
 
For $50 more, it's probably worth it? Everybody around here seems to love the gas assist even though most of them are just using it to light their chimineys. I admit they had me second guessing my decision to get the Gold version. I bought the Gold version because I found it for about $120 less then the Platinum version and figured there is no way the gas assist is worth that much more?

Do you have a gas grill as well? If so, does it have a side burner? If so, you might like to know that a lot of people use that to start their chimney's. If that's an option for you then the platinum may not be worth the premium for you?

Using the gas assist to start your coals is what it's intended for, is it not?
