Giving my spirit some love

My spirit grill used to be my go to cooker. Its about 9 years old now. The last three years I did not grill often. With a kettle in the mix now, it may never get as much use as it did years ago. The last few months it sat on grass and mud, with a leaky cover on top. It was the first time I saw fungus in the grill.

I wanna future proof my spirit. This means probably cleaning my cleaning habits.maybe replacing the leaky cover, because it may trap more moisture under it.

One small issue I have is the left and right burner are a lot weaker than the center one. I have never pulled it apart, or assembled the gas system. I bought it as a exhibition piece at a discount. Can you point me in a direction? Is there a manual online, or even a good video?

Chances are that you just need to give the burners a good cleaning with a small brass/SS brush to clear the slits - it can be done without removing the burners. But it sounds like a 'real' deep cleaning/scraping is in order.... it shouldn't be that hard to find the manual to locate the screws that remove the front panel and manifold to remove the burners and do it right. A pic of your grill will let the 'gurus' locate the parts drawing quickly. It sounds to me that it is a 2012-16 Spirit (I) three burner....

FYI --- I was just scrolling thru amazon for flavor bars --- just for the helluv it - haven't done it for a while --- and saw these on sale if you need new burners and bars..... Looks like a pretty good deal to me - under $20 for burners AND bars --- I'd be happy with that price for my 2 burner Spirit.

What a deal!

Keep in mind that the burners are warranted for 10 years if they need replaced. In addition, if it is a Spirit II, it has a 10 year warranty on all but some wear parts. Contact Weber.
