Genesis S-320 - Worth it to convert from NG to LP?

Hi all, just picked a 2007 Genesis S-320 NG for $80 as my "new" old replacement to a 1998 Red top Genesis LP which is still working great. Was eyeing all the sexy stainless grills and couldn't pass up this CL listing! So exciting and cleaning it up to new level. I don't have NG in the house and it looks like it will cost me around $300-$500 for someone to do a NG run. The LP manifold is a little over $100 from ebay (called weber and they won't sell me the parts).

Is it worth it to convert? I am on the fence here.....

Two things 1) I can not believe you got that for 80 bucs I paid alot more than thqat for mine, 2) For that price I would convert in a New York minute.
Congrats on the great buy and welcome aboard.

Given what you paid for the grill, if the cost of running a gas line was more at the $300 level of the scale I would go that way just for the convenience of not having to refill tanks and NG is cheaper. Your already looking at $100 for the LP manifold to convert.
If you just don't want to go that route, I would definitely convert.

Nice find by the way!

Thanks guys, just discovered this BB and it is great! The quotes I got to run the gas line were more like $500-700 and I found the LP manifold from allgrillparts.com for $86 shipped so going the lazy route for now. Going to keep the NG manifold for when I get up the energy to run the gas line myself, too many other house projects!

We were on vacation and they had a number of grills just like yours (and mine). They were all NG. I was very disappointed with the temp they would reach and the time it took to heat up. The only reason I could fine for the difference is NG versus LP - which I have. I did some reading and found a pretty good consensus that NG didn't get to the same heat level as LP. One person who I think knows what he's talking about (Phil Hartcher) said that not getting hot enough was the number one complaint with NG units and he said to make sure you run a 1 inch line because NG units us a lot of gas.

So my point is that you'll probably be happier with LP and that if you do run gas, check into how much you need to run the grill properly.

BTW - GREAT deal on that. For $80, I wouldn't mind putting another couple hundred bucks into it at all. Welcome to the board.

I have a 2011 Weber Genesis NG grill with 1/2" gas line run to it and it heats up as well as any LP grill I ever had. I'll never use LP again unless I have no other choice.

Where are you located at it is not mentioned on your profile, would make it easier to understand the local prices for running that NG line, thanks
