Genesis Platinum 1000 Restoration


 
FYI if anyone ever wants to match the shade of red Weber used on the old original Genesis lids I discovered (quite by chance) it's an identical shade to International Harvester red. Not just "close" but indistinguishable
 
I will try to put that little tidbit in my brain for later reference. Keeping from losing it will be the challenge.

But, is there a specific version of IH Red paint? Like Rustoleum or Krylon. I know I found a second brand of MF Gray that was not as good of a match for the Weber gray is Rustoleum MF gray is.

I found the product they sell through Farm & Fleet and Fleet Farm IDK who makes it but it's absolutely dead on match to the old Genesis Red head lid

Both. They sell the same products. Hard to tell which store you're in. As the store brands are identical. My understanding is they're sort of like Aldi Nord, and Aldi Sud in Germany. Same family slight different name but pretty much interchangeable
 
Alright. Here it is!

I so, so appreciate you all bearing with my dumb questions. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you guys.

There are a few things I would have done (new flavorizer bars and grill grates) but life is incredibly expensive right now. Maybe an unmarked wedding registry gift later this year.

I had my brother come over after work today and he couldn’t believe it. He said it was exactly the style he would have wanted.
