Genesis knobs and switches

I've only used the bleach method after reading Bruce's posts. If you use mostly bleach I recommend wearing those long yellow gloves you used to see 60's housewives wearing for doing dishes. Without them it's really hard on your hands.View attachment 121207
To each his own, but you really don't have to use that much bleach to effectively clean these parts. I usually do it in my kitchen sink and the main ingredient is just hot water. I add an appropriate amount of bleach and dish detergent and just let them soak for a little while. I'm not using a ton of bleach and gloves aren't necessary as I periodically pull each part out to give it a scrub.

I think other less bleach ways can work. Here are shots from a Silver B control knob clean up that I did in June. We had a bunch of bleach in the basement so I went for it on this project. It worked well.20250628_194948.jpg20250629_132911.jpg
I think there are many different methods in grill renovation to get good results. Sometimes you just have to start with what you have on hand with the best information you have.
