Genesis Gold B Restoration Part 2

Recent weather has been nice so I picked my way around the temps, and paint shop was underway. Nothing really exciting except for three coats of rich black ultra heat, and satin black on the tires, Krylon white for plastic on the whitewalls. I painted everything. Too busy painting and not enough picture taking!

When assembly day came, I laid out all the parts, and checked and double checked fitment etc. Had one bummer. The new black porcelain tray was the wrong size BUT fix.com will gladly refund and re-send the proper size.

I put all new innards in, even though the recent SS tubes and SS bars were in great shape. Notice how when Weber sends you a new lid and box they throw in manifold hardware, a new lighter, shroud hardware, cookbox hardware etc.

I then started assembling innards. I used black Spirit knobs and starter button. I love the wet look you get when you paint wheels with satin Krylon.

Looks great! Those wheels are FAST!!!!

I have a (2) boxes sitting in the garage from Weber that I plan on opening today for a Gold C resto. New firebox and lid.

I just finished a Silver B rebuild this morning that was a curbside picked up on Friday. Looked like a basket case MESS, but no frame rust and it had a full propane tank. After a strip down all it needed was a de-grease, firebox and lid de-carbon session, paint, some salvaged parts and it's ready for the market tomorrow. Nothing invested but cleaning supplies, starter, thermometer, and paint (oh yeah...time LOL). Always love it when people trash Webers with good grills, burners, and flavor grates.

Thanks guys.

I'm still toying with painting the end caps black. My wife (a body shop manager evidently) said black wouldn't look good, but I disagree. I've seen a lot of black end caps on this forum and they look mighty nice.

Also that long (4" x 40" approx) stainless piece that runs under the frame and in front of cook box, well now it stands out. I may figure out how to get a coat of gloss black on that too. IDK... it does pick up the SS in the handle and the hood thermo... Detailing is not my strongest suit.

I think the SS looks just fine on the front of the grill. Like you said matches the handle. The Weber logo and thermometer also have a bit of shine.

So, that is a Gold B or is it a C? It has the extra right hand table or is that just the baseline Gold series grill. I have the same grill sitting in my driveway waiting for attention?

Bruce the "B" has a right side table and the "C" has the right side burner instead of the table. Circa 2002-ish anyway.

On my grill, the serial number registered at weber.com indicates "Genesis Gold B LP SS SWE w/SS Lid." BUT interestingly, as we've noted in this forum, the chassis label is clearly printed SILVER B in capital letters.

Came along very nicely. You think the red cream will hold up to the heat in the area? Also if this was your keeper I think I would have sprung for RCP grates but great job
