Genesis 2000 finally done!

closest Lowes is 80 miles away, but I am taking a trip next week that will put me past one. I may have to do that.

But those are listed as 1x2 boards. 1 inch is too thick and I realize the finished board is not a full 1", but even 3/4" actual thickness is really pushing it. But, I will check them out.

Stephan, Don't limit yourself to just wood Genesis 1000 grills. You can replace the durawood in the later Genesis 1000 grills with wood. Aside from the wood, they are virtually identical grills.

The grill I currently have is later Genesis 3000 with the durawood which i wanted to convert to real wood. But the frame is to far gone. I am going to salvage all the good parts. E.g firebox, manifold, the flip up shelf which is complete and the side burner. And wait for another donor grill.
But no matter if later or earlier versions with real wood or Dura wood, these old grills hardly ever show up here. People don't seem to bother to sell them anymore and place them by the road. Today a 1000 showed up on CL for free. It had a green hood and a complete flip up table. But with the address in the ad and telling people to walk in the backyard and get it on "first come, first serve" basis it was gone within less than an hour. Me being at work there was no way I could get it.

Also is there an alternative to the Z-brackets of the top shelves and the bottom? Often these shelves are missing.

Only alternative to the Z brackets that I can think of is to make slats that go over each frame rail and then put a cross slat just inside each frame rail on the bottom.

Bruce,

Here is the item number for the Cedar boards at Lowes #803688 about $4.28 for an 8 foot piece. They are the exact height for the brackets.

This is what I am getting with a search on Lowes with that number:

I guess they are all basically the same item. But it says unavailable at that Lowes. :(

EDIT: I clicked on one and says they have them in stock X 166. :)
