Genesis 1000 restoration: I missed this detail.

So when I restored this grill last year I overlooked this detail. The little hub caps that go on the tank glide axle. Probably because mine were missing for so long that it didn't look strange to me anymore. After looking at a lot of pictures of similar grills on this site, I realized that I had missed this detail. I went to a couple of websites and found the right part. $6.88 a piece for the Weber ones and $13.57 for shipping. Too much, and the replacements were black. From what I've seen, the original ones were white. I found suitable ones at HD for $1.47 a piece and free shipping, no brainer.

Good work on that, Steve. It’s a small detail many would not notice, but it gives satisfaction to do it right - especially when you scout out a good deal.

Thanks Jon. It is a small detail, but one that bothered me when I realized it.

If you need more than 1 or 2 at a time, Amazon sells them in a bag of 10 for less than $1 per unit. I try to keep some on hand at all times and burn through them pretty quickly on the rehabs. 1/4” in white for the tank bracket wheels. They also usually have the 3/8” black for the main wheels as well.
