Genesis 1000 missing piece?

Hey all!

new to the forums and happy to be here. I’ve been looking at a bunch of genesis 1000s and fell in love with the look and especially that red top. I found a good price on one but the listing says that it’s missing a fitting for the manifold. I’m a complete noob at this stuff but they sent me a picture of it. Do you know what piece is missing?

thank you!

That appears to be where there normally is a plug or a gas line to connect to a side burner. If your grill doesn't have a side burner it should be fairly easy to source a plug.

I'll ask the dumb question since I can't tell from the photo. Is the hose with the regulator attached to the manifold or is the hose end loose? If the black hose isn't connected then that should be an 1/8" pipe thread male x 3/8 flare male. Search on other threads as Bruce has posted a link to the needed piece on Amazon. If it is attached to the manifold, then Jon hit the nail on the head. Probably a 1/8" NPT plug, but don't forget the pipe dope, not tape.

Thanks for the fast replies! No side burner. I have attached a pic of the grill.

It just looks like where the regulator/hose should be in. Odds are a 1/8" npt male by 3/8" male flare fitting and a new regulator and you're in business UNLESS it is actually a NG grill someone attempted a hillbilly conversion on

If the hose is not already connected to the manifold, then you may not need anything. If the hose with the grill has the 1/8" male NPT connection, then it can just screw in the empty hole. If the hose has a 3/8" female flare connection, then you want the 1/8" male NPT to 3/8" male Flare converter as described above.

If the hose is already connected to the manifold, that is just a tap hole and you simply need to install a plug there.
