Not much new to add here that isn't already covered on this site. I just need a reason to brag.
Picked up my first gasser!
Every spring the city will take all of your excess stuff as long as you put in on the curb. Spring cleaning week. I love doing some curb side scavenging for some quality products that are neglected.
Found a neglected Weber that needed just a bit of love to get her back to her original glory. Luckily I have a full Auto shop and welding shop available at my disposal with free labor (students).
Our riding my bike a wonderful sunday night where it was actually sunny and found this beauty:
Rust everywhere
Very bad. This was the part I was most concerned about. At first I had a leak in the valves. Ended up cleaning those out and it functions perfect now.
Cleans up nice!
very nice!
The welding teacher had a spare piece of Aluminum plate that he cut. Not stock, but better!
Flavorizer's not that bad! At some point I'm going to upgrade to stainless, but these are in pretty good shape!
Grates not terrible eithier!
NO RUST
Sandblasted the whole logo down to metal. Spray painted the whole thing and then sanded down the raised parts.
Total spent to get her going:
- $25 gc to napa for the kid that did all the work
- $10 for a can of paint
- $10 for thermometer
$45 Weber grill that retails for $700ish
Hell yeah!
