Gas control valve cap broke

I’m not even sure what to do from here. Any tips?
That happened to me twice! I think the castings get fatigued and the just say, “I Quit!” I was gifted a replacement valve but, have not had time to replace that valve yet, life got very complicated very fast! I need to get my together with nephew to get the frame welded up still.
I think those parts get brittle and the tiniest bit of grit underneath is enough to cause the failure! The air was deep blue around here when #2 broke, no noise nothing I just turned the driver to “just snug” and the thing was done! I was not happy!

Yes. It’s very frustrating. Bbq grill parts has a new valve for $26. I think it’s the same kind?

Ummm - like I mentioned - I think they may be metric - maybe m3(?)

I saw this bit set on daily deal at Lowe’s - includes full set of PoziDrive bits for $10

1-in Screwdriver Bit Set 100 -Piece https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-100-Piece-1-in-Set-Steel-Hex-Shank-Screwdriver-Bit-Set/1002653024

Thinking back I believe I may have used a M2.5 Phillips screw as a replacement…
